Minecraft-Like Shooter Game 'Ace of Spades' Announced

UK based-Jagex Games Studio has officially announced shooter game Ace of Spades that will be launched December 2012.

The independent game developer and publisher company is known for its Guinness World Record-holding MMO RuneScape.

For over a year, Ace of Spades has been live as a prototype. Nearly 2.5 million people have installed the game so far, IGN reported.

The game is described as a fusion of Minecraft and Team Fortress. It allows 32 players to fight in a sandbox environment, where players are able to build bunkers, tunnels and fortresses in real-time. The shooting will be fast and frenzied, says Gamespy.

The official website lists the following features of the game:

* Endlessly evolving battleground

* Class-based fps mayhem

* Construct tunnels, fortresses, anything

* Tons of insane game modes

* Strategize for victory

"Create your battleground, destroy it, then create it again. It's construction, combat and creativity. It's like war, only better," says the game's official website.

"If you're tired of the same old first person shooters, coming out year after year with a fresh lick of paint and a hefty price tag, then Ace of Spades will tick all the boxes for you, offering an all action multiplayer featuring up to 32 player FPS combat and a fully customisable environment which will continuously develop throughout your battle," said David Solari, CMO Jagex, as reported by IGN.

"We have blended the artistic style of voxel-based sandbox games, such as Minecraft, with the class based combat of titles like Team Fortress, and added an extra dimension with real-time evolving battlefields to create a game which we firmly believe will appeal to FPS gamers looking for a bigger challenge."

The game will hit Steam in December.
