"Sherlock" Season 4 is scheduled to air this coming New Year of 2017. Benedict Cumberbatch (who portrays Sherlock Holmes) is anticipated to reveal the secrets of the 2016 San Diego Comic Con (SDDC) three-key S4 tease: "Thatcher," "Smith" and "Sherrinford."
The Mirror highlighted Mark Gatiss' dialogue with BBC Breakfast wherein the "Sherlock" Season 4 actor and writer foretold that the "Sherlock" Season 4 debut air date will postdate the scheme of last few seasons. Mark Gatiss further affirmed that the episodes and tapings have been done and will throw Benedict Cumberbatch and fellow BBC sequel members into life-changing occurrence.

Among the rumored alterations is the impending demise of Mary Watson (Amanda Abbington) and the comeback of Irene Adler (Lara Pulver) into Holmes' life.
