iPhone 7 Release Date, News & Update: Apple Allows Users Click Images Underwater? Dropping the Earphone Jack May Be a Bad Decision?

iPhone 7 may be completely water-resistant, at last that's what the latest rumors suggest. If this is true, Apple is all set to get back its market share it lost to arch-rival South Korean giant Samsung. The water-resistant feature will prove to be tough competition for Samsung as the patent for the technology is with Apple.

iPhone 7 rumors suggest that the water-resistant high-end phone will allow its users to take images under water. Unconfirmed sources revealed that the new system will be incorporated in the device based on the patent awarded to Apple, Quartz had reported earlier.

Meanwhile, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak hinted that the company may after all retain the headphone jack in the upcoming iPhone 7. Wozniak even warned that Tim Cook-led Apple must rethink its strategies as to the headphone jack as removing the port may affect the company's sales this year.

"If it's missing the 3.5mm earphone jack, that's going to tick off a lot of people," Wozniak told the Australian Financial Review of the upcoming iPhone 7. He added that Bluetooth sounds flat for music that sounds great when it's plugged in. However, several enthusiasts believe that retaining the earphone jack will make it difficult for the iPhone to be water-resistant as water may then easily enter the phone.

The upcoming iPhone 7 may also feature USB Type-C ports for rapid data transfers and will run on the iOS 10 and A10 chipset. Two sensors may also be added that would enable users click photos simultaneously.

Apple's iPhone 7 event is reportedly happening on Sept. 7 and it is believed that the company will also announce the release of Macbook Pro 2016 and Apple Watch 2 during that event. iPhone 7 may also have three variants - iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 7 Pro. The high-end smartphone could come fitted with dual camera and Smart Connectors.
