BioShock Infinite Will Not Feature Multiplayer

Ken Levine, creative director, Irrational Games, has confirmed in a Tweet that the first-person shooter BioShock Infinite will not have multiplayer mode, Nov. 25.

BioShock Infinite was reportedly having trouble with the multiplayer feature back in August. The company had not publicly announced if the multiplayer mode will feature or not.

"Can you clear up whether or not BioShock Infinite will have multiplayer modes," a fan asked Ken. He simply replied "Nope," in his Tweet.

"RT @wolverine11111: @IGLevine Does that mean nope it won't or nope you can't clear that issue up? --No multi."

BioShock Infinite and the Multiplayer mode do not seem to co-exist. In 2010, Levine had told Kotaku that the game might not have multiplayer. It was later learnt that two multiplayer modes -- a co-op tower defence game and a version of Call of Duty's "Spec Ops" that were not announced were shelved from the game.

Since the original BioShock that was released Aug. 21, 2007 had only single player mode, fans might not be surprised, Kotaku reported.

Some of the fans responded to this news on NeoGAF, where they reacted as "Not disappointed at all. I'm actually quite happy about this. :)" and "Thank God."

The game uses the artwork of the American culture and propaganda at the turn of the 20th century for its in-game posters.

The game follows the journey of former Pinkerton agent, Booker DeWitt who is sent to floating air-city of Columbia to rescue a young woman, Elizabeth who has been captured for 12 years. They story is set in the year, 1912. The game builds on the ideas of American Exceptionalism.

The game won "Best of Show" at the 2011 E3 show on its early pre-release.

BioShock Infinite is scheduled to be released on Feb. 26, 2013 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
