‘Days Of Our Lives’ Cancellation News & Update: Another Death In Salem, Will This Increase Ratings?

"Days of Our Lives" has been surrounded by cancellation rumors following reports of low ratings. In order to save the show from cancellation, the long-running daytime NBC soap opera is looking into killing another character in Salem to boost ratings.

'Days Of Our Lives' Low Ratings

"Days of Our Lives" continues to drop viewer ratings per TV Series Finale. The website showed there was an average 0.70 rating in the 18-49 demographics. This is 7.46 percent lower compared to the previous season.

While "Days of Our Lives" was able to garner an average of 2.4 million viewers during its current season, it pales in comparison to other soap operas. "General Hospital," "The Young and The Restless" and "The Bold and The Beautiful" are among the soaps that it competes with.

The cancellation of "Days of Our Lives" will primarily depend on the ratings. The ratings are the best indication of the show's potential to stay on the air, the website explained. Although the website reported that NBC already renewed the soap until 2017.

While "Days of Our Lives" is good until its 52nd season, fans are not quite sure if it's going to continue afterward. With the continued decline in ratings, NBC could pull out the soap opera.

In particular, Xander will go after Theresa (Jen Lilley), who accused him of rape, which landed him in prison. Meanwhile, Orpheus will go after John (Drake Hogestyn) and Marlena (Deidre Hall). "Days of Our Lives" fans should watch out who gets in the line of fire during Brady (Eric Martsolf) and Theresa's wedding.
