Star Wars Episode 7: Is Matthew Vaughn Directing Episode VII?

When it was announced that Disney had acquired the rights to the "Star Wars" film franchise and were planning to release "Star Wars: Episode 7" in the Summer of 2015, rumors began to circulated about possible directors. "X-Men: First Class" and "Kick-Ass" director Matthew Vaughn's name was at the top of the rumor mill.

The rumor only got larger when Vaughn dropped out of the "X-Men: First Class" sequel and now British actor Jason Flemying said in a new interview something that may confirm these rumors. Flemyng has made nine movies with Vaughn, including "X-Men: First Class" where he played the villain Azazel.

In the interview with HeyUGuys via The Film Stage and reported by IGN, Flemying reacts to a question about Vaughn's potential involvement with the franchise by making sounds like R2-D2 and imitating the movements of C-3PO.

At the 1:15 mark of the video interview Fleyming says, "Me and Matt have done nine films together, so I'm sure I'll get the call for Star Wars. But I'm sure it's going to be 'Flemyng, no, I know on paper it doesn't look like much but I promise you it's essential to the part.' So we'll see what happens with that."

Fleyming seems to back out of the comments as the interview goes on. The interviewer asked Fleyming if Vaughn is interested in the "Star Wars" film, and he says "In what, Star Wars, I think... Uh, yeah, he's interested, yeah about the deal."

This is certainly not an official confirmation that Vaughn will direct, but it does seem like he is at least in the running for the job.

What do you think about "Star Wars: Episode 7" potentially being directed by Matthew Vaughn? Could Vaughn steer the franchise in the right direction? Comment in the section below and tell us what you think.
