"Overwatch" fans should expect a major change in the upcoming season 2. According to our previous report, the "Overwatch" Season 2 is expected to have a more competitive play with its skill rating scale that will be launched this coming September 6. Blizzard revealed some information sbout its upcoming season.
The director of the "Overwatch" Season 2, James Kaplan, also confirmed that there will be major changes to the PTR (Public Test Realm) that would be held. Blizzard will be changing its focus to the game's skill rating. Kaplan said that he doesn't want the competitive players to be recognized based on the game skill rating anymore.
As the competitive play enters the "Overwatch" Season 2 with several updates, there are also refinements that were designed to improve the game experience based on the feedbacks on the "Overwatch" first season. According to a report from Siliconera, the matches in the upcoming Season 2 will be one minute shorter than before and there will be no Sudden Death. So, now that the Sudden Death feature is gone in "Overwatch" Season 2, how each team completes their attack or defense mission will be a huge matter if there will be a tie breaker. The tie breaker round will give the players teams to have a face off using the time that was left from the previous rounds.
Another improvement in the upcoming "Overwatch" Season 2 is the in skill rating system. The new skill rating system will now be measured using a 5000 point scale instead of a 100 point scale. The extended Skill Rating range and addition of Skill Tiers is designed to help minimize the feeling of defeat when Skill Ratings fluctuate throughout the season.
