'Friday the 13th' Game News & Updates: Trailer Highlights Gory Executions; Can You Stomach It? [Watch]

A new trailer of the upcoming "Friday the 13th" game recently surfaced. The video featured brutal executions and a lot of blood, as promised by game developer Gun Media. The new "Friday the 13th: The Game" trailer was showcased at PAX West 2016.

"Friday the 13th" brings gamers back to Crystal Lake during the 1980s. The video was particularly violent and full of gore, which may be too much for certain viewers. GameSpot noted that the "Friday the 13th" game video, which lasts under three minutes, made fans nostalgic with its grainy neon VHS effects and 80s music in the background. The clip went straight to the violence, initially showing the main character and killer Jason Voorhees pulling a woman off a boat on the lake.

The following "Friday the 13th" scene showed Jason pushing a victim's eyeballs back into his head until they turned into a bloody pulp. Another scene had him wielding an axe and chopping a man to death. More murderous scenes followed, including Jason stomping on a woman's head, throwing a victim into the fireplace and crushing another's head with his bare hands. The hulking villain did not hold back on weapons in "Friday the 13th: The Game," using a pitchfork, spear, machete and anything else he can hold on to for a creative finish.

GameRant reported that Tom Savini worked with Gun Media to make the "Friday the 13th" game as an executive producer and helped in the cinematography too. The actor and special effects artist designed some of the kills that Jason will execute in the survival game. "Friday the 13th" series star Kane Hodder will most likely act and record most of Jason's deeds via motion capture.

"Friday the 13th: The Game" was initially conceptualized as "Slasher Vol 1: Summer Camp" before Gun Media took over. The game developer acquired the rights to make the "Friday the 13th" game for free, and it subsequently transformed into a full title. "Friday the 13th" became a successful Kickstarter campaign.

The multiplayer game has one player taking on the role of the killer Jason, while the rest play camper victims with the main objective of surviving. "Friday the 13th: The Game" is temporarily set to launch in October 2016 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
