"Overwatch" Season 2 of competitive play mode has been released by Blizzard Entertainment and it is now playable on Xbox One, PC and Playstation 4. Compared to Season 1, this version offers a lot of changes that players will surely find exciting and enjoyable.
Blizzard published the "Overwatch" Season 2 Competitive update last week and it offers fixes to various issues encountered by gamers while playing. This update has also been labeled as the revamped variation of Season 1's competitive mode due to the tweaks that greatly improved the gameplay. To get an idea of what the newly-upgraded "Overwatch" Season 2 competitive mode is like, here are some of the changes that can be expected in the game:
Skill rating
In Season 1, the scale was from 1 to 100 and this has been scrapped. The Season 2 competitive mode will now use the 1 to 5000 scale which will be divided up into seven tiers and these are: Bronze (1 - 1499), Silver (1500 - 1999), Gold (2000 - 2499), Platinum (2500 - 2999), Diamond (3000 - 3499), Master (3500 - 3999) and Grandmaster (4000 +).
"Overwatch Season 2" players with skill rating of 3000 and up must stay active if they want to maintain their tier/status. For every 24 hours of inactivity, a total of 50 points are going to be deducted from their skill rating if they failed to complete at least one match in seven days.
Competitive Points
Blizzard also updated the competitive point system. For winning a game, players will get 10 points. The golden guns cost 3,000 competitive points now instead of 300 because the price was multiplied by 10. This increase allows us to reward players for participating in Competitive Play when the match ends in a draw.
Ban and Penalty on Players
"Overwatch Season 2" players must take note that Blizzard will not tolerate rage-quitters. Those who do will either be banned or slapped with XP penalties. Players will be blocked and they will not be able to join any competitive matches for a set period of time while repeat offenders may be suspended for the whole season.
For those who leave while a match is going on, they could be penalized with a 10 minute ban. Lastly, "Overwatch Season 2" players who are dropping out from an ongoing match will only earn a quarter of their XP for a number of games. Find the rest of the updates here.
