The highly anticipated Canon 5D Mark IV was announced arriving later this month despite the lack of a release date. In fact, the newest in the line of DLSR cameras from the Japanese company is already making its way to retailers as of press time.
Engadget has the first look at the real thing, as they've published photos of the Canon 5D Mark IV. Fans and users previously had only the product photos from the announcement to drool over. Visually, the camera is very much a twin of its predecessor, the Canon 5D Mark III. However, it's nice to note that the newest iteration in this line of cameras is actually 60 grams lighter. It's not much, but it means a lot to professional photographers who haul equipment everywhere.
One of the most exciting things to arrive to Canon 5D Mark IV is the powerful 30.4-megapixel CMOS sensor, Digic 6+ processor, and its capability to shoot 4K video at 23.98, 24, 25 and 30 fps. Photographers will appreciate the new 61-point autofocus system, as well as the new 100 to 32,000 ISO range thanks to the built-in digital lens optimizer. Of course, the camera will also have NFC and WiFi as well. It's what's inside that counts for the Canon 5D Mark IV, as it is also equipped with Canon's Dual Pixel CMOS AF, which enables the tracking of moving subjects very accurately when the user is shooting video.
Speaking of what's inside, the guys over at Lens Rentals has taken apart the new Canon 5D Mark IV, taking note that the camera has an "improved weather sealing," which means it's great for outdoor and adventure. Inside, most of the parts look the same as the camera's predecessors. However, the company has added a new focus select button on the button panel at the back of the camera.
Moreover, the Canon 5D Mark IV seems to sport an even more durable shell compared to its predecessors. Lens Rentals reports on additional interlocking construction and added pins, clips, and screws than other Canon camera's they've disassembled, which implies that the housing of the Canon 5D Mark IV is definitely one for wear and tear.
Internally, the Canon 5D Mark IV seems to be more chips and connectors, given the upgraded specs of the highly anticipated camera. We previously reported that it is set to arrive with a price tag of $4,399 for the body with the improved weather sealing and $4,599 for the camera with the EF24-105mm f/4L IS II USM lens, which is reportedly arriving next month.
