Apple Watch 2 vs Samsung Gear S3: Which is The Best Smartwatch? Specs, Features, Design & Price

The giant tech company Apple has recently released their most latest wearable device, the Apple Watch 2, together with its latest smartphones, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Its rival company Samsung also gave their fans some sneak peak of its Samsung Gear S3 last August 31. We all know that Samsung and Apple have really good quality devices, but which of the two wearable devices is better?

According to a report from Trusted Reviews, Samsung had tried a couple of times to perfectly get the right formula of a smart watch while Apple had only its second attempt as the Apple Watch 2 name clearly suggest. So, which is better, Samsung Gear 3 or Apple Watch 2?

When it comes to the design, the Samsung Gear S3 has its circular figure just like its predecessor the Gear S2. There are two models of Samsung Gear S3: the Classic and the Frontier. The classic looks more minimalist and weighs for about 57g, while the Frontier has its rugged strap and it is slightly heavier than the classic because it weighs 62g. The Gear S3 has a 1.3in colored always on touchscreen that has a 360x360 resolution; it is also using an AMOLED screen technology to achieve more vibrant colors.

The Apple Watch 2, on the other hand, also looks like its predecessor, but there are new materials in it just like its ceramic white model that is said to be four times harder than ordinary steel. There are also 42mm and 38mm cases that is available with the screen resolutions of 272x340 and 312x390. The Apple Watch 2 is also said to upgrade its screen brightness as it is now twice as bright as the first Apple Watch,which makes it easier for users to use it outdoors.

The watch's processor is one of its most important parts. According to International Business Times, the Apple Watch 2 has and S2 dual-core processor with the latest WatchOS 3 while the Samsung Gear S3 has its 1.0 GHz dual-core Exynos 7270 processor with its TizenOS 2.3.2.

Both of the two smart watches have GPS sensors which make them a very good choice for athletes to accurately track their speed, distances and routed maps. The Samsung Gear S3 is an IP68-rated device that means it can only be below water for 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. The Apple Watch 2, on the other hand, can be submerged below water with a shocking depth of 50 meters.

The Samsung Gear S3 has an improved battery than its predecessors; it now has a capacity of 380mAh battery that will last for up to four days with display always turned on. Apple did not reveal much of the battery of Apple Watch 2, but users can expect it to have an 18 hours battery performance.
