Mysterious messages from "A" has been an integral part of "Pretty Little Liars." The cast, Alison, Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer has been stalked and bullied all throughout the season though their phones. In fact, the liars seem to be having a post-traumatic stress disorder just by the mere ringing of their cell phones.
But according to Teen Vogue, "Pretty Little Liars" use of technology has been unrealistic. And that includes their phone.
In 2010, "Pretty Little Liars" season 1 brought us mobile phones from the, then very popular Motorola, Palm Pixi and Pre, Microsoft Kins, HTC, and iPhone 3G. Aria received threat from "A" in her Palm Pixi with a message "your blood's next," while Emily got a goodnight kiss message from "A" in her Microsoft Kin Two.
In "Pretty Little Liars" season 2, we saw in abundance Palm and HTC devices. The Verge thinks that Windows Phone OS should not be very popular among teens in 2011. Emily Fields was taunted by a suicide note by "A" in her Samsung Intercept. Other phones seen were Motorola V31 and Blackberry Pearl. "A" herself had a Motorola Droid.
iPhone 4S was popular during "Pretty Little Liars" season 3 in 2012, so naturally all the liars had one. Even the mysterious "A" also had an iPhone 4S! Still, other brands were seen like Nokia, HTC.
In 2013, "Pretty Little Liars" season 4, Aria and Toby were still using Nokia brands. Spencer went back to using an HTC phone.
In "Pretty Little Liars" season 5, we saw some inconsistency in the phone and their operating system. Aria was using an iPhone 5S with an iOS 7! The rest of the cast were using either HTC, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S or iPhone 5.
In the previous season of "Pretty Little Liars," all liars have iPhone 6 or 6S. Even Alison who went into hiding had already the latest Apple mobile when she went came out from hibernation.
On the upcoming "Pretty Little Liars" season 7, Emily and Spencer will be seen donning an Apple watch. Sadly, we won't be seeing these pretty girls using an iPhone 7.
