'Pokemon GO' Plus Latest News & Update: Will it Really Give You An Edge? Advantage Or Disappointment

Shell out $35 and "Pokemon Go" Plus is yours as this handy companion invaded the monster hunt craze earlier this week. A hint for excited players though - answer the question first if it is worth it.

To set the perspective in straight line first, "Pokemon Go" Plus is a small wearable electronic device that compliments "Pokemon Go" app. It was designed to give players edge while hunting for monsters through added flexibility and safety. This small device will vibrate and blink whenever a player is near a PokeStop or there are monsters around. In theory, players need not look in their smartphones because this device will serve as prompter.

There are myths surrounding "Pokemon Go" Plus so therefore the cause for disappointments. First, there are fan-made trailers showing players wearing this band could remotely throw PokeBalls and capture monsters. Forget this urban legend because players still need the app to play the game. Again, Pokemon Go Plus is just a prompter.

In reality, there are varying assessments about "Pokemon Go" Plus at this infancy stage. Notable among them is the lower catch rate where players pegs 50 percent chances. So be content with Rattata, Pidgeys and other commons because Plus is notorious for letting go rare Pokemons, iDigital Times said.

Further, "Pokemon Go" Plus is reliant on PokeDex. There is a good chance of catching a Pokemon if it is already in player's index but failure possibility amplifies if they are yet to be collected. Needless to explain, most of creatures landing in the index are common monsters.

Another lacking feature of "Pokemon Go" Plus is alerting the player if it is disconnected to the main device carrying the app. In this scenario, there might be valuable monsters, PokeStops or goodies that unsuspecting players might miss. Because Plus was reported prone to disconnect after a couple of hours, then this device can become just a simple bling with no purpose at all.

Oh, just a bit of spoiler: Sony and Niantic confirm that "Pokemon Go" Plus features are available in iPhone 7 so just forget it if you plan or already own Apple's new flagship.
