"Wentworth" Season 5 viewers will expect not to see Bea Smith anymore as she was stabbed several times to prevent another inmate from being released. With her death, comes anticipation who will be the next top dog.
On the previous season of "Wentworth," we saw Karen Proctor leading the inmates after Bea's death. It seems natural that she will be the next watch dog in season 5 because she is an avid supporter of Bea. She belongs to a group called The Red Right Hand, and an advocate against men who abuse women.
Karen's aversion to abusive men came from the fact that she has been sexually abused by her father. On top of her experiences being in a dysfunctional family, she also had some bad memories of equally abusive boyfriends. All these made her think that all her problems in life are caused by these men, and also made her protective to women inmates. Her protective characteristic could certainly make her a very effective top dog in "Wentworth" Season 5.
Meanwhile, a new character challenges Karen's race for being the next top dog in season 5. Sonia Stevens appeared only once in "Wentworth" but according to reports, she is the favourite of the fans. Sonia is comes into prison with a case involving prostitution and drug addiction. Her character is strong but sometimes not too witty as her cover up was eventually discovered.
True to her name, Helen Smart was smart enough to discover the true identity of Sonia. Helen then divulged all the facts she have gathered and presented it top dog Bea. However, she did not act hastily but instead processed everything that has been presented. Sonia became the top dog for a while, and fans think that she already had the experience to be the next top dog in "Wentworth" Season 5.
