Splinter Cell Blacklist Release Date Announced And Ubisoft Releases A New Trailer For Sam Fisher's Latest

Ubisoft announced the release date for its upcoming stealth action video game Splinter Cell: Blacklist. Sam Fisher latest adventure will hit stores on Aug. 20 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC.

The video game publisher also released a new trailer to celebrate the announcement of the release date. The game is now also available for pre-order and will have some pre-order bonuses.

The game was originally scheduled to release in the spring, but Ubisoft never confirmed the exact date. The trailer confirms that the game will release on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC, but does not mentioned the rumored Nintendo Wii U version of Blacklist.

The new trailer is called "Inauguration" and shows actual footage form the inauguration ceremonies of several recent and past Presidents. The trailer than cuts to actual game footage and we see the new President, Patricia Caldwell, as she appoints Sam Fisher to the head of Fourth Echelon, a newly formed covert government agency.

We then see Mr. Fisher taking care of some villainous terrorist using a mixture of old and new techniques, before the trailer begins to splice in some more actual footage of real-life Presidents.

Here is Splinter Cell: Blacklist's synopsis form it's official website:

"The United States has a military presence in two thirds of the countries around the world. A group of 12 have had enough and initiate a terror ultimatum called the Blacklist - a deadly countdown of escalating terrorist attacks on US interests. Sam Fisher is the leader of the newly formed Fourth Echelon unit: a clandestine unit that answers solely to the President of the United States. Sam and his team must hunt down these terrorists by any means necessary, and stop the Blacklist countdown before it reaches zero."
