Fans of the classic 1990s TV animation, "Batman: The Animated Series," can now relive the iconic tale through virtual reality (VR) from View-Master. Warner Bros. collaborated with DC Entertainment, Mattel and the cloud graphics specialist OTOY to produce the artificial reality experience.
'Batman: Animated Series' For View-Master
Fans will not only be treated with a common 3D headgear from View-Master but a new overhauled version by Mattel. The toy company made a major change with the photo viewer making it a Google Cardboard-compatible headset. This time, it could be used to any Android or iOS compatible phones to watch "Batman: The Animated Series," as per Variety. "We are extremely excited for our fans ... to experience 'Batman: The Animated Series' in a new and immersive way," Warner Bros. Animation and Digital Series President Sam Register said.
"Batman: The Animated Series" will not be the only one that will come on View-Master. In fact, Mattel is set to team up with OTOY to create more animation series in virtual reality for the special-format stereoscopes. In a statement made by Mattel Director Advanced Concepts Mark Morse, he said that OTOY is the best company that delivers live holographic rendering for VR content for View-Master. "The Batman experience [is] just a glimpse into the incredible things to come from this collaboration," he added.
Experience 'Batman: The Animated Series' In Virtual Reality
Meanwhile, "Batman: The Animated Series" virtual reality headgear for View-Master is the first generation hardware for the 3D viewer. However, it is not yet the much-awaited View-Master Deluxe VR that will soon be available for the coming holidays. Aside from the attractive Batman logo on the headset, it would also take its users inside the world of the best "Batman" TV series.
Fans can now experience what it feels like to be inside the "Batman: The Animated Series" Batcave, Batwing and to battle the antagonists Two-Face, Riddler and Joker, io9 reported. They, too, can hear the iconic voices of the show's original cast Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill, Tara Strong and more. View-Master "Batman: The Animated Series" Virtual Reality Pack will be released on Nov. 15 for $45 and can be now pre-ordered here.
