Just a couple of weeks after GoPro has announced its super compact 4k camera drone the GoPro Karma, DJI steals the show with Mavic! The Mavic is DJI's newest addition to their popular drone lineup.
The Greatest Drone Ever?
As said on the title of Casey Neistat's new Youtube video about the DJI Mavic, could it really be the greatest camera drone ever made? With its compact and lightweight design, there is no doubt that the DJI Mavic is the most travel friendly drone in the market today even its remote control is the smallest that DJI has ever created, but what about its specs?
The DJI Mavic's size maybe have shrunken down significantly but not the tech that its packing within. It has the same sensor as its predecessor the DJI Phantom 4, also it is equipped with a 12 megapixel camera capable of 4K video recording.
Another cool feature of the DJI Mavic is its remote control, taking design cues from what looks to be like a gaming controller, it's easy to use and doubt way smaller than its past versions. You can also attach your smartphone to it and view what the camera is recording real time in 1080p quality even the DJI Mavic is as far as 7km.
Another first for the DJI Mavic is that this is the first drone developed by DJI that can be used even without a remote. As reported by The Verge, "With the Mavic Pro, like the Phantom 4, you can now take off, fly, return to home, and land, all by simply tapping on the screen. In "tap-to-fly" mode the drone will always move forward, and will automatically sense and avoid obstacles."

However, one thing that could draw consumers away from the DJI Mavic is its price tag of $999. But don't fret as DJI seems to be taking the stakes up a notch against its competition offering the DJI Mavic a price cut to just $749 minus the remote, talk about competing with GoPro's Karma drone which is priced at $799.99
