PS4 To Have Screenshot And Video Recording Tool: Launch Date Set For Late 2013

What did I say recently? Next generation consoles need to have a screenshot tool for easy sharing of in-game action. It appears Sony is gearing up to make this a possibility with the PS4, and not only that, the company is taking things a step further.

What if your console could not only take in-game screenshots, but record the action as well, how would you feel about that? According to Edge Online, the Sony PS4 is looking to be a beast when it launches later in the year. The article states Sony is planning to incorporate the ability to take screenshots and record video of in-game content. This is pretty awesome, as it would make things so much easier for folks who would like nothing more but to share their gaming actions with friends on Facebook and Twitter.

A snippet from the article:

"A new Share button on the controller will, when pressed, launch a new feature that will allow screenshots and video to be distributed online. The PS4 hardware will continually record the most recent 15 minutes of onscreen action (with no processing penalty, claims our source), which users will then be able to edit and broadcast via the Internet."

Apart from the screenshot and video recording tool, the article also touched on the new PS4 controller. It claims the controller will have a different design, same size as the Dualshock, a touchpad for God-knows-what. The touch-based tech is, however, based on the rear touch panel of the PS Vita, so you can be rest assured knowing it's not a touchscreen.

When it comes to the PS4 launch, the article states Sony is planning a December 2013 launch in Japan and the U.S., Europe will have to wait until the first half of 2014.
