The somber theme could be due to several major characters being killed off in the third "Thor" movie. There have been speculations that Idris Elba is set to return as Heimdall only to be written off by the end of the film. Will Heimdall And Sif Get Killed Off In 'Thor: Ragnarok' Due To Idris Elba And Jaimie Alexander's Hectic Schedule?
Heimdall and Sif have proven to be important characters in the first two "Thor" films so it would make sense that they should both be in "Ragnarok", right? After all, there will be a major battle and the Odinson is going to need all the help he can get. However, there have been no confirmations that Idris Elba and Jaimie Alexander will return in the third "Thor" film. Is this because both actors are very busy with their own current projects?
Fans were elated when Idris Elba was cast as Roland Deschain in the live action adaptation of Stephen King's "The Dark Tower". In addition to starring in all three films, the "Star Trek Beyond" actor has also been confirmed to appear in the TV series based on the movies. It's beginning to look like Elba might be too busy to shoot more scenes for "Thor: Ragnarok", but at least there is hope Heimdall will be in the MCU flick. On the other hand, Jaimie Alexander has no idea whether Sif is part of "Thor 3".
Jaimie Alexander Not Returning As Sif In 'Thor: Ragnarok'?
The star of "Blindspot" Season 2 has previously spoken about not being contacted to return as Sif in "Thor: Ragnarok", which premieres on November 4, 2017. Jaimie Alexander is understandably busy with her new TV show, but fans are beginning to worry that this would mean Sif is being written out of the "Thor 3" storyline. There are speculations that Sif will have a small part along with Idris Elba's Heimdall before both characters will be killed off by Cate Blanchett's Hela early in the film.
