Fans of Neil Gaiman's novel can expect to see so much more in the Starz adaptation of "American Gods". However, it turns out that this little token is one of the most important elements in the story. There is little doubt that Mad Sweeney went through hell just to retrieve the coin in "American Gods".
But what exactly did Mad Sweeney go through before he found Shadow? It's a mystery that Neil Gaiman fans have probably wondered about but never really gave much thought. However, Nerdist reveals that the TV series might explore what happened to Pablo Schreiber's character as he searched for the coin. In addition to that, Mad Sweeney might not be the only character whose backstory will be shown in "American Gods".
