"Person of Interest" season 5 was announced as the final season for the hit series but many fans are still positive that it will have season 6. Recent reports reveal that CBS might consider the huge fan base of the show and produce "Person of Interest" season 6.
Fans have earlier initiated a petition for the renewal of the drama series. Viewers want to see more from Reese, Finch, Root, Sameen and the rest of the characters of "Person of Interest." But since Reese and Root who are two of the major characters are already killed in the finale episode of "Person of Interest" season 5, it is already impossible to continue the original story. The chance of "Person of Interest" season 6 is also low because the cast members have already accepted other projects. It is now difficult to bring them back together.
This means that renewing the series is still not far from possible but it might not happen right away. Meanwhile, reports about a spinoff series have been going around the web after "Person of Interest" concluded last June. Speculations state that Sarah Shahi and Amy Acker will star the series. The former earlier revealed in an interview with TV Insider that she has heard about the "Person of interest" spinoff news.
The actress has hinted that she is willing to revisit her character in "Person of Interest" in the future if given the chance. She would want to see the character evolve and be in deeper and darker places. Shahi said, "I would want to shave her head and give her a bionic arm. I'm still holding a candle out for that story. Shaw, the way Shaw is now, I think I've done that. We'd have to do something else with her."
Though she is not closing the door, Shahi thinks it is impossible to do a spinoff since they are now busy. Meanwhile, CBS has not yet commented about the rumored spinoff and possibility of "Person of Interest" season 6.
