'Pokemon Sun & Moon' Release Date, Latest News & Updates: Ash-Greninja Is Unlockable In The Demo, Here's How

Nintendo and the Pokemon Company will be releasing a special demo version of "Pokemon Sun & Moon," which will be officially dropping on November later this year. Other than being Pokemon fans' first taste of what seems to be a highly nuanced and much more improved experience of the popular long-running franchise, the demo version will contain an exclusive Pokemon that can be transferred to the main game once it arrives.

The "Pokemon Sun & Moon" special exclusive demo will give players the chance to get an Ash-Greninja. What's that, you ask? It's basically just a Greninja (one of the final evolutions of the Water starter from the previous Pokemon generation) from the main "Pokemon" series, but due to its special bond with Ash Ketchum, is able to take an enhanced stronger form that resembles the color scheme of the clothes he wears on the show. Ash-Greninja has a unique ability called Battle Bond, which triggers this change in combat.

Nintendo Insider has the lowdown on how to get this exclusive Pokemon for "Pokemon Sun & Moon": players of the demo will be given a special Pokeball with the Ash-Greninja. You'll then go on a side adventure that won't be present in the main game; in the quest, Ash-Greninja joins the team. It will be available to transfer to your team once you can start playing the main game next month. It isn't clear yet, however, whether Ash-Greninja will be available really early in the game, or whether you have to wait to get to a certain point to take it on your team.

The "Pokemon Sun & Moon" demo will be available at the Nintendo eShop two weeks from now, on October 18. "Pokemon Sun & Moon" is dropping for the Nintendo 3DS on November 18 for the U.S., Australia, and New Zealand, while Europe will get it on the 23rd.
