'Thor: Ragnarok' Release Date, News & Update: Film to Be as 'Out There,' 'Guardians of the Galaxy?' Director Says Film is 'Crazy'

Marvel's third installation in one of their biggest franchises, "Thor: Ragnarok" isn't arriving until a year from now, but filming is in its final stages. It isn't too early to promote the film, so director Taika Waititi took some time off over the weekend to head over to Reddit to conduct an AMA.

Entertainment Weekly reports that as per Waititi, fans will not know true adventure until they've seen "Thor: Ragnarok," which he describes as "crazy." He claims that out of all the Marvel films so far, this upcoming film slated for an October 2017 release is the "most adventurous." He also admitted that as a director, he has had a major influence in the film, something that Marvel Studios had been gracious enough to accommodate. Fans should expect a touch of Waikiki in the upcoming film.

But what sort of intergalactic adventures will fans get to see in "Thor: Ragnarok" when it arrives next year? For one, the film will see the return of Chris Hemsworth as the titular god of thunder, Tom Hiddleston as his adoptive brother, Loki, as well as several new characters. Cate Blanchett is set to appear as Hela the sorceress, while Tessa Thompson will play Valkyrie. Jeff Goldblum is playing The Grandmaster, while Karl Urban will be the face of Skurge.

According to Nerdist, Waikiki was pushing to have a "Guardians of the Galaxy" character in "Thor: Ragnarok," but they could not tie it into the story. They shelved the idea instead. It seems that Thor and Star-Lord won't be meeting until "Avengers: Infinity War."

Nonetheless, Waikiki teased that there may or may not be a scene alluding to the upcoming "Doctor Strange" in the post-credits sequence of "Thor: Ragnarok." While it's a long way to wait, fans will have to see how it will tie into "Doctor Strange," which comes out in 10 days. "Thor: Ragnarok" will be released on November 3, 2017.
