Initial script of "Ant-Man and the Wasp" has been created and it seems to be focused on Evangeline Lilly's character, Hope Van Dyne. The first draft, however, has not yet been approved by Marvel Studios. So, nothing is official just yet.
During New York Comic-Con, Evangeline Lilly spoke to Blastr and revealed some interesting trivia about "Ant-Man and the Wasp." Evangeline Lilly confirmed that she has spoken to director Peyton Reed about the film's focus and where they are headed.
In the press con, Evangeline Lilly said that she is excited with the "Ant-Man and the Wasp" because it will be about the origin of her character, Hope Van Dyne. She added that for the first time, fans will get to see the Wasp take on the mantle, put on the suit and fly.
However, fans believe that the storyline of "Ant-Man and the Wasp" will not entirely focus on the origin of Hope Van Dyne. After all, the Ant-Man is still the main character of the story.
"Ant-Man and the Wasp" director Reed said that it will be exciting to see Hope Van Dyne's character evolve into full power. Surely, there will be more to the Wasp than her suit and wings. Reed added that the movie will be as much as Evangeline Lilly's as it is Scott Lang's.
Sharon Stone is reported to join the cast of "Ant-Man and the Wasp" as Janet Van Dyne, the mother of Hope Van Dyne, making Stone the original Wasp. Michael Douglas and Michael Peña are also expected to star in Marvel's upcoming movie.
Marvel Studio reportedly does not want to introduce the Wasp character in a team up movie without giving her an origin story. With "Ant-Man and the Wasp" slated for July 2018 release, fans will get to see Evangeline Lilly in the second Avengers film.
