A lot of Apple fans were expecting the iPad Air 3 to be announced in September alongside the company's new flagship smartphones. But instead, the giant tech company launched the iPad Pro in two different sizes.
The fact that Apple released a 9.7-inch iPad Pro, which is the same form factor as the iPad Air has made others to speculate that the company will finally stop the Air family in favor of the iPad Pro products.
It's almost two years since the iPad Air 2 was successfully launched and fans may have to accept that the iPad Air 3 is less likely to happen. Several Apple launch events have been done without any substantial updates regarding the Air 3, IT Pro reported.
Apple has been consistent in introducing a new iPad every autumn in the past few years. The company, however, launched another iPad in 2015, the iPad Pro. It was then followed by the smaller version of the iPad Pro, which has the same size as the Air family.
Whether the iPad Air 3 will still be launched or not, some speculates that the next possible date will be this Autumn 2016. Both September and October have been the company's favorite months for most of its major hardware launches, Neurogadget reported.
Price-wise, the iPad Air normally cost at around £399 for the entry level version at launch. If the entry level of the iPad Air 3 jumps to 32GB, it is expected that around £400 would be the starting price tag of the device.
Several rumors suggest the the Air 3 will designed thinner than the iPad Air 2, which has 6.1mm thickness. Apparently, this would need a much smaller battery pack and other design tweaks to successfully pull it off. If this happened, the iPad Air 3 would be the company's most lightweight hyper portable tablet. Watch Apple iPad Air 3 (iPad Pro 2) Release Date, Specifications, Price
