'Journey' Sweeps The Game Developers Choice Awards

With every GDC comes the Game Developer's Choice awards, though this year's event probably felt a bit like Daniel Day Lewis was ruining the party. Thatgamecompany's "Journey," published exclusively on Sony's PS3, took home just about every away it was nominated for. Our predictions were (sort of) spot on, but not really.

Catch the full results over here.

Not satisfied with a simple "Game of the Year" award, "Journey" also took home accolades for Innovation, Visual Arts, Game Design and Audio, for Austin Wintory's impressive score.

The GDC Awards also recognized BioWare founders Dr. Ray Muzyka and Dr. Greg Zeschuk with the Lifetime Achievement award, "Spacewar!" designer Steve Russell with the Pioneer Award and The Art of Video Games museum exhibit curator and creator Chris Melissinos with the Ambassador Award.

"Thank you to all the game creators who have provided me with a lifetime of inspiration," Melissinos said at the ceremony. "You've had a much larger impact on the world than you may believe."

"The Walking Dead and "Far Cry 3" took home Best Narrative and Best Technology, respectively, while Subset Games, responsible for "FTL: faster Than Light" was recognized as the Best Debut.
