‘Monster Hunter Stories’ Latest News & Update: Capcom’s ‘Generations’ Series Tops Charts On First Week; Can It Beat ‘Pokemon GO?’

"Monster Hunter Stories" topped the Japanese charts in the first week since it has been released. The latest mainline game in the series, "Monster Hunter Generations," has already sold almost 1.5 million copies in Japan. If the trend continues to rise, fans are anticipating that it could possibly overtake "Pokemon GO" soon.

"Monster Hunter Stories" developer, Capcom, is also a popular Japanese video game publisher. The role playing game is a spinoff title within the "Monster Hunter" series for Nintendo 3DS. The main series started with the "Monster Hunter" in 2002 followed by "Monster Hunter 2," "Monster Hunter Tri," "Monster Hunter 4," and the latest is the "Monster Hunter Generations" which is making waves in Japan.

One of the successes of the "Monster Hunter Stories" may be attributed to its audience. Although it is aimed towards a younger group of gamers, many adults do not mind playing the kiddie game. With a wider group of players captured, Capcom's game could possibly catch and overtake "Pokemon GO" in terms of popularity.

"Monster Hunter Stories" is a role-playing game by Capcom where a player becomes a hunter and teams up with monsters to fight the battles. They can also ride on the creatures to explore the universe. In the "Monster Hunter Generations" the player's adventures revolve around hunting dangerous creatures, which is similar to "Pokemon Go."

Unique to "Monster Hunter Stories" is the different kinds of armor and weapons. In the previous series, there are 14 kinds of weapons including bows, guns, hammers, lances and swords. These are all included in the "Monster Hunter Generations" with the addition of Prowler mode which can transform the player into Felyne, a feline-like creature.

"Monster Hunter Stories" is only available in Japan but with its whopping sales in the market, it will not be long that it will go global. Stay tuned to GamenGuide for the latest news and update of "Monster Hunter Generations."
