'Space Jam' & 'Pokemon: The First Movie' Relaunch Dates, News & Update: Special Screening Schedules Here

"Space Jam" and "Pokemon: The First Movie" will be returning to celebrate their respective 20th anniversaries. The basketball film and original Pokemon video games both launched in 1996. "Pokemon: The First Movie" released in 1998 in Japan, but it will reappear in theaters again to celebrate the success of the multimedia franchise in the past two decades.

SlashFilm reported that Cinemark locations will host the re-release of "Pokemon: The First Movie." Over 200 movie theaters will showcase the first Pokemon film, although fans can only watch the movie once each day. The show schedules are at 12 p.m. or 12:15 p.m. on Oct. 29, 2016, and 7 p.m. on November 1.

The short film, "Pikachu's Vacation," will also be shown with "Pokemon: The First Movie," similar to the original theatrical launch. Tickets are priced at $5. "Pokemon: The First Movie" focuses on Pokemon trainer Ash Ketchum and his buddy, Pikachu, who heads out to a grand adventure that culminates in a showdown with the legendary PokemonMewtwo.

"Pokemon: The First Movie" raked in over $160 million at the world box office, making it the most successful Pokemon movie in history. Aside from the classic Pokemon, music fans will also enjoy a number of period soundtrack selections from the 90's, plus brand new songs written by Vitamin C and Christina Aguilera.

In the meantime, Fathom Events announced that "Space Jam" is also set to relaunch in theaters to celebrate the film's 20th anniversary. The live-action animated hybrid film stars Michael Jordan and Bugs Bunny, together with various Looney Tunes characters.

"Space Jam" also features former NBA stars Charles Barkley, Mugsy Bogues, Patrick Ewing, Larry Johnson, Shawn Bradley, Larry Bird, and Bill Murray. "Space Jam" is a basketball movie where the NBA stars had their talents stolen by small animated aliens in an attempt to win against the Looney Tunes characters.

"Space Jam" was also a box office hit, raking in over $230 million worldwide. Fathom Event is taking over the re-release of "Space Jam," which will happen in various theaters at 2 p.m. or 6 p.m. on November 13, and 7 p.m. on November 16. More updates and details on "Space Jam" and "Pokemon: The First Movie" are expected soon.
