'The Walking Dead' Season 7 Updates: Bloody Premiere Earns Ire Of Parents TV Council For Extreme Violence

Popular American drama series "The Walking Dead" premier has been aired. While it was great news for fans, it also grabbed negative attention and comments from conservative regulatory group Parents Television Council.

PTC described the premier of the series as one of the most violent graphically picturized shows to be ever seen. While the teases and flashes from the series attracted youngsters, the regulatory body found them to be violating the social norms that might affect children's level of thinking and acting. Seeing the critical views of PTC on the premier of the "The Walking Dead" season 7, it is believed that the seventh season might face barriers of a similar nature in the future.

The reaction of the PTC has come following the airing of "The Walking Dead" episode on Sunday, in which two of the characters were beaten with a baseball bat multiple times until they died. The council released a statement where it tried to clarify its action against the anti-social behaviour promoted through the premier of the American series.

"Last night's season premiere of 'The Walking Dead' was one of the most graphically violent shows we've ever seen on television, comparable to the most violent of programs found on premium cable networks," Hollywood Reporter quoted PTC president Tim Winter as saying. He also said that changing the channel is not a solution to this problem as cable subscribers are not left with any alternative but to subsidize violent content.

He added that the premier of "The Walking Dead" season 7 has raised doubts over the kind of control families should have on their purchase of the TV networks. PTC program director Melissa Henson also came forward raising concerns over the violent being promoted through the "The Walking Dead" premiere episode. She said that the makers of the show have reached another level of violence in the series this time. She, according to Fox News, compared the scenes to those of zombie vs. human violence and said that this kind of violence is "extreme."
