The highly anticipated sequel "The Incredibles 2" is moving up a year for release on June 2018. On the other hand, "Toy Story 4" is moved back a year to June 2019.
Both Pixar and Disney have announced that they are swapping the release dates on both films. This is mainly because "The Incredibles 2" is already way ahead on their production schedule, according to Disney insiders.
In 2004, ''The Incredibles'' grossed over $633 million globally, during which time it was hailed the second biggest opening ever for an animated film. According to Mashable, both Holly Hunter and Craig T. Nelson will return for their roles in "The Incredibles 2" as the voices of Elastigirl and Mr. Incredible, respectively.
Director Brad Bird previously stated in a Hollywood Reporter interview that he has already written "a bunch of pages" for "The Incredibles 2". "I had a lot of ideas for the original Incredibles that I didn't get a chance to use, that I like," Bird reveals.
The blockbuster scored an Oscar nomination for Bird for original screenplay and the movie took home two Oscars overall: Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film and Academy Award for Best Sound Editing. Meanwhile, fans of "The Incredibles 2" are yet to find out what holds for the much awaited sequel. Notably, the colossal animation company has been very careful in releasing sequels for their much-loved films.
Pixar has been keen on releasing their animations mid-June - one good example would be "Toy Story 3." It went on to become the first animated film to gross a billion dollars, earning $1.067 billion at the global box office. Nonchalant of the competition that awaits them, "The Incredibles 2" will open a week before "Jurassic World 2" and a week after "Transformers 6" and "Ocean's 8." "Toy Story 4" on the other hand will open a week before "Transformers 7."
