'This is Us' Spoilers, News & Update: Chrissy Metz on Kate & Jack's Unique Father-Daughter Bond; Kevin Gets Deep

This week's sobfest of an episode on "This is Us" made viewers double their orders for Kleenex. The notorious show once again brought the heartbreak through Kate and Jack's unique father-daughter bond, which continued on from last week's "The Pool." In this week's "The Game Plan," we saw how the Super Bowl XIV and the Pittsburgh Steelers paved the way for Kevin and Kate to come into existence, thanks to their parents' post-game make-up sex.

But that wasn't the only sweet thing viewers witnessed, as "This is Us" also finally shed light on Kate and Jack's unique father-daughter bond, as well as Jack's ultimate fate. Back in the show's second episode cliffhanger ending of epic proportions, viewers were shocked to know that Rebecca (Mandy Moore) was now married to Jack's (Milo Ventimiglia) best friend, Miguel (Jon Huertas). What was even more interesting was the fact that Rebecca was still wearing the moon necklace Jack gave her—the same one she promised never to take off.

This caused fans to speculate that somewhere between 36 years ago and today, Rebecca and Jack's marriage had either failed, or Jack had somehow passed away (drunk driving?). "This is Us" fans speculated that Jack had indeed died, and that Rebecca's commitment to him is still intact, thus the necklace. In this week's "The Game Plan," fans' theory about Jack's death was confirmed via Kate.

Chrissy Metz spoke to Entertainment Weekly about Kate and Jack's unique father-daughter bond that spans life and death, and how Kate's tradition of watching the game with her father goes beyond the grave. Metz shared that while it was a painful story to tell, it was a "sweet way of delivering some really, really sad news."

Meanwhile, we also saw Kevin (Justin Hartley) utter some deep musings about life and death to his nieces. He spoke about how there's no death and that life is just a collection of shared moments with people we care about, likening life to a Jackson Pollock-inspired painting. Check out next week's sneak peek of "This is Us."
