‘Tribe Survival’ For iOS: Where Is The Gameplay? [REVIEW]

"Tribe Survival" is a free-to-play dice/strategy game set in a cartoon Mayan universe where battles are decided by the roll of a die. The most basic problem with “Tribe Survival” is that the game actually tries to focus so much on the innumerable in-game stats, that it leaves out actual gameplay.

The only way you can ever improve your in-game attributes is by either battling bosses or fighting other players online because there’s very little in terms of exploration. However, there are several in-game “quests” that are very straight-forward that will see doing something like “train defense on low intensity.” These have a fun quotient of zero.

The game is nothing but numbers, numbers, and more numbers. In-game stat updates are okay, but the way it happens in “Tribe Survival” is ridiculous.

The game does have random battles can turn in your favor via quick time events, using the right spell, or the totem (collecting runes and totem parts is a big part of the game). For a free-to-play game, there aren't many in-app purchases. Progress is based on time spent playing the game. While it's admirable the developer hasn't gone crazy with IAP, restricting progress to in-game time makes the whole experience feel slow.
