'Bloxels': A Great Platform for Kids to Create Video Games

Creating games is not only for pro game developers but for kids too. A software called Bloxels make this possible. It is a hands-on platform for kids to build, collaborate and tell stories through video game creation.

There are plenty of tools or toys that are designed to help kids create games these days but it may take a lot of work to do. Bloxels is an odd product. It's a plastic board that fits a collection of plastic pegs of numerous colors. There's a free app to download that helps kids and even the older ones create games.

Bloxels is nearly a platform for a trouble-free game creation and there are various ways to approach the act of game and asset creation using that platform. The product is designed for children ages eight and above and it is excellent at what it does according to Polygon.

What makes Bloxels impressive is that it transforms the act of asset creation into a physical act. The plastic board lets the kids to use the eight colours of pegs to design items and characters up to 13 by 13 pixels in resolution. These can be mixed and matched to create levels up to 13 by 13 screens in size.

All plastic squares are basically pixels which mean that characters up to 13 by 13 pixels can be created by hand using a physical object. Using a phone and tablet with the app, the board can be scanned and used in game creation.

Each character has three several animation circumstances such as ideal, walk and jump. So for instance, if the character is going to walk, adding multiple frames of information by changing the physical pixels on the board or using the digital version of the phone or tablet will do the trick.

Coding is not required and the kids are learning the very basics of character design and animation and working within the limits of a 13 by 13 pixel resolution makes it easy for kids and for everyone else.
