New 'The Legend of Zelda' Coming To 3DS This Holiday Season

Wednesday's Nintendo Direct broadcast ended with a bang as everybody's favorite Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime took the stage to announce a new "The Legend of Zelda" title for the 3DS.

Set in the same universe as "The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past," players embark on a top-down adventure that takes advantage of the 3DS's unique capabilities. Dungeons and other areas will take advantage of the 3D effect to differentiate heights in the environment. Nintendo also showed off a new mechanic where Link becomes a part of the wall, allowing him to maneuver in new ways.

The game is set for a holiday 2013 release and does not have a final title yet.

Nintendo is also re-releasing "The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages" and "The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons" to the 3DS on May 30, both of which originally came out on the GameBoy Color.
