MacBook Pro 2016 is expected to be a wonderful laptop, given the "Pro" name that actually means "professional". However, reports claim that some tech fans do not seem to be impressed, as a number of concerns have been raised against the laptop's moniker, including the features. In fact, long-time Apple users have reportedly turned to a new alternative - the Linux.
The new MacBook Pro 2016 is believed to disappoint photographers by not having an SD card slot, and maxing out at 16GB of RAM, instead of a 32GB or more, which most pro users prefer, but the new machine does not offer. Due to this, the notable Ubuntu laptop from Linux and System76 reportedly saw a big influx in traffic from users buying their machines. Community Manager Ryan Sipes of System76 has revealed that this sudden surge has prompted the need to upgrade the company's servers in order to keep up.
MacBook Pro 2016 is priced at $2,400 and comes with a Quad-core Skylake i7. The laptop includes a Radeon Pro 450 with 2GB memory, an NVMe 256GB SSD and maxes out at 16GB of RAM. On the other hand, Ubuntu Linux or 15-inch Oryx Pro has a closely matched spec, with its NVMe 256GB SSD and a Quad-core Skylake i7. The machine is reported to be configured with 32GB up to 64GB, and by default, packs with a 6GB Nvidia GTX 1060. The laptop is available for less than $2,000, Beta News reported.
Meanwhile, SVP of Worldwide Marketing Phil Schiller of Apple claims that the MacBook Pro 2016 is the fastest selling pro device from the company. The Apple executive also revealed that the 13-inch laptop is a MacBook Air replacement. Whether a consumer or a pro laptop, the recorded sales of MacBook Pro 2016 is believed to be an indication that the backlash against it is only confined to a minority of users.
