'Overwatch' Release Date, News & Update: Blizzard Working on 'Play of the Game 2.0' to Highlight Combo Play

BlizzCon has brought about a slew of interesting information about Blizzard's collection of games. One of those updates includes one for the team-based multiplayer first-person shooter, "Overwatch." The latest news surrounding it is that Blizzard's working on "Play of the Game 2.0" to highlight combo play.

Kotaku reports that the "Play of the Game" feature of "Overwatch" is widely popular among fans. But there is a downside to it. Blizzard acknowledges the flaws of the game's feature. That's why the studio is constantly working to update it. Fans would be glad to know though that Blizzard's working on "Play of the Game 2.0."

According to "Overwatch" lead hero designer Geoff Goodman, the studio has the plan to create "Play of the Game 2.0" to highlight combo play. He admitted that the project has been on the team's radar for quite a while now. He added that they have several ideas for a "cooperative" type of "Play of the Game."

Goodman said that as Blizzard's working on "Play of the Game 2.0," they would like to "highlight combo play" and will have to determine how characters get credit. Meanwhile, speaking of heroes, VG24/7 reports that those who play the Nexus Challenge in "Heroes of the Storm" between November 15 and January 4 will be able to get loot for both the game and "Overwatch."

To get the free "Overwatch" and "Heroes of the Game" loot, gamers must be able to complete 15 "Heroes" games in Ranked, Unranked Draft, Quick Match, or Co-op vs. A.I. within the given time period. Gamers who do so will be able to get their hands on the Oni Genji skin, spray, and player icon in "Overwatch," and some awesome items for "Heroes" as well.

Keep checking back for the latest on "Overwatch." In the meantime, check out the video below and let us know what your thoughts are on Blizzard working on "Play of the Game 2.0."
