"Mad City: Blood Rush" centered around Nathaniel Barnes (Michael Chiklis) after his corrupted mind has deemed itself judge, jury and executioner. Barnes has always been a man with a strict code of values and morals, following the law right down to the last detail. Is it bound to happen sooner or later that not every good guy can stay good forever?
In the episode Blood Rush, we saw Captain Barnes go from being a good cop to a bad cop. Captain Barnes became infected after a single drop of Alice Tetch's blood- Naian Gonzales Norvind fell straight into his eyes causing his inevitable transformation. Alice Tetch's blood has given Captain Barnes his superhuman strength but it also made him lost control of his own mind.
When the Dr. Maxwell Symon was captured and released due to lack of charges against him, Captain Barnes decided to take justice into his own hands. Dr. Symon makes a living by giving new faces to Gotham City's criminals. The voices inside his head declared the man "guilty," and so Barnes confronted the surgeon inside the men's bathroom and shove him through the wall.
Nathaniel Barnes' character was solely created for the Gotham. Could he be another interpretation of a famous Batman villain?
Cinema Blend suggested that all these signs point towards the "Judge" or the third persona of Gotham City's District Attorney, Harvey Dent. An accident brought Dent's evil personality to surface and made him the notorious criminal known as Two-Face. Dent's personality fragmented again which created the "Judge" persona..
Yet Captain Barnes character can also be Gotham's version of Banes. According to a report cited in Moviepilot, Barnes superhuman strength and blood infection express like of himself and DC Comics character Bane. Bane enhances his great physical strength with a steroid called Venom. Also, Bane can actually be spell out of the name Barnes. Coincidence?
