'Metro' Game News and Updates: Deep Silver Ruled out a Reported Next Metro Game in 2017
Metro's publisher Deep Silver has announced on Facebook regarding a reported potential release of the next post-apocalyptic videogame instalment by next year.
"You may have noticed some sites have reported that a new Metro game would be released in 2017. Deep Silver has released the following statement... As the exclusive rights holder to video games set in the 'Metro 2033' universe, Deep Silver has ambitious plans for the hugely successful Metro series. But just to manage our fans' expectations--releasing the next 'Metro' game in 2017 is not one of them. When we have more news to share, we will. Thank you for your patience," Deep Silver posted on its Facebook page.
According to PC Gamer, Metro 2035 website also shows "An untitled Metro project" which says, "But the Metro saga doesn't end where the books leave us... An era of great discoveries lies ahead!" It also doesn't show a date which could mean that there will be no new "Metro" game to be released in 2017.
"Last Light is notably superior to its predecessor, merging storytelling, shooting, and sneaking into a remarkable and cohesive whole. And through this harmony of game design comes the caustic dissonance of a world so torn asunder that a single possibility can bring with it endless hope," critic Kevin VanOrd has concluded about the last game in the series, "Metro: Last Light", which was released in 2013. The game received a score of 9/10 in GameSpot's review.
Deep Silver also released a collection of the series' two games which were remastered for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC called "Metro Redux". These were released after "Metro: Last Light".
Deep Silver is the video game publishing division of German multinational corporation Koch Media, based in Planegg. Since its founding in 2002, Deep Silver has published and co-published several major titles. In total, the company has released more than 200 games.
