‘King Charles III’ Air Date, Spoilers, News & Update: BBC Adapts Mike Bartlett Play; Charlotte Riley Cast As Kate Middleton?

"King Charles III" is a 2014 play that is penned by Mike Bartlett. As the dramatic got critically acclaimed and received positive reviews, BBC Two is going to make a TV adaptation of the "Doctor Foster" writer's masterpiece with the same title.

In fact, BBC Two is now busy preparing for "King Charles III" as the network recently cast the "Peaky Blinders" star Charlotte Riley as the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, per BBC News. The "Close to the Enemy" star expressed her excitement to portray the role of the mother of Prince George and Princess Charlotte and accepted it as a challenge.

"It's such a unique project. To be both modern and rich in verse and to play someone who is real but yet totally re-imagined for this story is an exciting prospect for an actor," the "London Has Fallen" actress said. "Kate Middleton is a really interesting woman, particularly within the context of this play, and it is a challenge I am really looking forward to." Tim Pigott-Smith, on the other hand, is set to reprise his role as King Charles in "King Charles III."

"King Charles III" is about Prince Charle's succession to the throne after the Queen's death written in a blank verse. As the Prince of Wales refused to sign a "controversial bill into law," the political disorder started that leads to a chaos.

In "King Charles III," King Charles will be seen struggling to find his own identity and from here, the drama about him, the royal family and other matters will begin. Other stars that will join Tim Pigott-Smith and Charlotte Riley are Oliver Chris as Prince William and Richard Goulding as Prince Harry, Deadline cited.

They, too, will be joined by Margot Leicester as Camilla along with Priyanga Burford and Tamara Lawrance. "King Charles III" will be directed by Rupert Goold and executive produced by Greg Brenman and Roanna Benn for Drama Republic with Bartlett and Goold. BBC has yet to announce the air date of "King Charles III."
