‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ Latest News Update: Eddie Redmayne Spills On Failed Audition For ‘Star Wars’ Villain Kylo Ren

Since taking on minor roles earlier, it can be of no doubt that Eddie Redmayne's character has reached full bloom now. It can be said that this talented young man could be Hollywood's next biggest things as he has taken on a lot of leading roles and absolutely slayed all of them.

From being Stephen Hawking in "The Theory of Everything" to becoming a transgender woman in "The Danish Girl" and now taking the lead role in "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," it appears that he is unstoppable now. However, it was recently revealed that things were not always this way as the actor once auditioned to be the big bad in the new Star Wars Trilogy, and did not get the role.

Eddie Redmayne Tried Out For Kylo Ren Before "Fantastic Beasts"

In an interview by Uproxx, Redmayne was asked about the audition that he mentioned earlier last year regarding a bad guy in Star Wars. Here, he confirms that indeed, he auditioned for the role of Kylo Ren which went to Adam Driver, noting that he was not given the role because his portrayal of antagonists was hilarious.

He reveals that in his audition, he was given several situations which included Star Trek and Pride and Prejudice and as not given any lines to which he had to improvise by playing the antagonist. Redmayne says that he had to keep on trying again and again to get Darth Vader's breathing sound right and after exhausting himself, he did not have any more to show.

Nothing Lost As Eddie Redmayne Slays Role As Newt Scamander

Although Redmayne missed out on a big role, he actually has not missed anything and it even looks like things turned out for the best. Adam Driver was able to deliver the best possible delivery of the role while Eddie Redmayne will be seen in his own series soon wherein he will star as magizzologist Newt Scamander in "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."
