‘X-Men’ Reboot Latest News & Update: Is A Franchise Reboot Already In The Works? Next Instalment Could Feature Dark Phoenix

The X-Men series has been a pioneer in the modern superhero genre and has been the longest running superhero franchise ever. While there will be 10 X-Men movies when Logan gets released next year, it appears that the franchise could be getting a little old as "X-Men: Apocalypse" did not get much critical praise. While the franchise has already been running for 16 years, it appears that the crew has no plans of slowing down anytime soon and they have big plans for future instalments.

'X-Men' Reboot Updates: Marvel To Revive Its Former Glory

The Hollywood Reporter says that Fox had the copyright to Marvel's X-Men movies before it had its own studio since the 90s. With this, Fox has launched the modern comic book movie with the first X-Men movie but after some highs and lows, it appears that there are already some signs of some wear and tear on this aging franchise.

These signs include the upcoming Wolverine film "Logan" which will be the last movie he will do as Wolverine before he retires and that the spinoff "Gambit" movie has just lost its director. While these signs could hit them hard, Marvel will not be giving up too easy as it has some plans to revive its former glory.

'X-Men' Reboot Updates: Bryan Singer Reportedly Not Returning To The Franchise

It is also reported that Fox has subtly pressed the reset button on the X-Men series when all roles were recast and an apparent new series was launched. Bryan Singer, the pioneering X-Men movie director, is not expected to return to the franchise and taking his place is Simon Kinberg who has been part of the team since 2006.

Such a bold move could come with some very visible when the next X-Men movie comes out and LRM reports that viewers might just get to see a dark rendition of Phoenix in the next movie. There have already been glimpses of Phoenix in the past X-Men movies and viewers were nothing short of awed by the power she had displayed in all those. This time, however, it is reported that the powerful level 5 superhero will be the focus of the movie. This could mean the return of Sophie Turner's Jean Grey who would deal with struggling with her power.
