Nintendo suffers demand outpacing supply again for NES Classic Edition after its launch on Friday. The shortage results to angry expectants after they stormed the shops and not able to grab the system. Nintendo was quick to appease the crowd though, promising that more stocks are on its way.
NES Classic Edition sells like pancake to the point that game developers and even from rival console manufacturers jumped into the bandwagon. "Halo" development team head Dan Ayoub said that he tried refreshing Amazon over and over again in hopes that there will be NES Classic Edition console that will magically spawn. Shannon Loftis, general manager for publishing of Microsoft Studios is blunter in her statement that she got "irrationally angry" at not getting the console, GameSpot reported.
Given the shortage problem, Nintendo America admits that it is hard to keep up with the current pace so one option is to continually release throughout the holidays in batches, Forbes reported. The company promised steady flow of NES Classic Edition all the up to New Year. After all, Nintendo knows that it is a tough challenge to sever the demand in one go.
NES Classic Edition have few setbacks like games library that can't be expanded from its 30-game lineup and no internet connectivity neither. However, the appeal of playing some of the most popular classics in any TV using this standalone $60 console seems stronger. In fact, it is safe to presume that NES Classic Edition is the smash hit of console industry, at least for this holiday season.
Now here is another problem adding up to the whole NES Classic Edition mayhem, unscrupulous sellers are capitalizing on high demand. There are reports that some hoarders are selling the console at price that is four times that the original. Both Amazon and eBay have listings that goes $250 while others are going as far as $300.
