Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are once again coming together after their breakup; but it's not to patch things up. The 2016 American Music Awards has placed the ex-lovers into the same playing field vying for one of the most coveted accolades in the music industry. 

2016 American Music Awards: When & Where?

Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber have been nominated for Artist of the Year, among several other stars. The event is scheduled to be held live from Los Angeles' Microsoft Theater on November 20 on the ABC network. It is the first time Gomez will be seen performing in public after she joined rehab sessions, The Daily Mail stated.

The names of Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber have not been decided by any authority but it is the fans who did so. They have been voting for the names for several weeks and, finally, the five names to compete for the award have been announced. The fans' prevailing choice so far has somehow hinted that they still cannot get past the fact that the ex-couple's relationship is over.

2016 American Music Awards: Other Nominated Singers

Besides Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, other singers to have also been voted by fans to compete in the Artist of the Year category. These include singers Rihanna, Ariana Grande and Carrie Underwood. Voting will continue until November 17 9 p.m. Fans are still allowed to choose the singers they desire to see competing on Sunday's event.

2016 American Music Awards: Hosts, Live Performances

The co-hosts for the night will be Gigi Hadid and Jay Pharoah. Hadid had a conversation with ET last week, where she said that she would attempt comedy, which comes naturally to her. She also praised her co-host and said that he is "known for his spot-on impressions."

The 2016 American Music Awards will be a star-studded event. The performances that have already been announced include names like Lady Gaga, James Bay, Bruno Mars, Twenty One Pilots, Fifth Harmony, Green Day, John Legend, Shawn Mendes and more. There will also be some duets and collaborations from The Chainsmokers and Halsey, Maroon 5 and Kendrick Lamar and Ariana Grande and Nicki Minai.
