iPhone 8 Release Date, News & Update: Full-Active LCD Liquid Crystal Display Likely In 2017? Bezel-Free, Zero Home Button Confirmed

iPhone 8 is expected to be released next year, and may come will a full-screen face, along with the virtual button that is built directly into the screen. There are speculations that Apple will likely include liquid crystal displays as a new technology called a "full-active" LCD by the company's display supplier Japan Display.

The new iPhone 8 is reported to feature to a new high-density wiring layout, including a new processing and module assembly technologies. According to Japan Display, this technology will reduce the bottom bezel and be almost the same as the display size. The display supplier also stated that they plan to begin mass production by the end of March, 2017, which means that the technology would be ready in time to support the next iPhone launch.

Although iPhone 8 is believed to feature a curved OLED display, there are speculations regarding the possibility of continuing the use of LCDs in the lower-end iPhone models in the next few years instead of switching to OLED.

Some also believe that if Japan Display and all the other LCD manufacturers continue to advance LCDs in order to compete with OLEDs, the technology may likely to have a considerable long-term future in the smartphone and tablet industry. However, it is also important to note that the OLED technology is expected to continue and even become the preferred display technology for high-end smartphones, despite  the significant strides it has made over the last few years, Fox Business reported.

Meanwhile, rumors also suggest that iPhone 8 may come at 5-inch, bezel-free design by eliminating the iconic Home button. However, there are also speculations that the Home button will be moving to an in-screen solution. Moreover, some reports claim that the screen is going to be extended both vertically and horizontally. Meantime, two iPhone models are also expected to be launched featuring a 4.7-inch and 5.8-inch design with LCD displays, MacRumors reported. Watch video about the All-new iPhone 8
