Val Kilmer Cancer Rumor: Michael Douglas Apologizes For Spreading Misinformation

Michael Douglas has sent an apology for publicly suggesting that Val Kilmer has a cancer. Kilmer, in a Facebook post, shared on Tuesday night, that he received a nice note from Douglas asking for an apology for being the source of public misinformation. Val Kilmer further said that Douglas was grateful knowing that he was well.

The story surfaced when actor Michael Douglas was interviewed in London by Jonathan Ross of the Telegraph UK. Douglas was asked about his 1996 film "The Ghost and The Darkness", which he co-starred with Val Kilmer. Douglas was quoted saying that the reason why Kilmer is not visible in the public's eye is that he is dealing with exactly what he has. He said that things do not look too good for Kilmer and that he is praying for him.

It can be recalled that the 72-year-old Douglas was diagnosed with tongue cancer in 2010. By January 2011 the actor was declared cancer free after submitting to aggressive chemotherapy and a series of radiation treatments as reported by CNN. On the other hand, rumors about Val Kilmer's health started circulating in January 2015. The actor was reportedly hospitalized after he suffered bleeding in his throat. It was believed that time that he underwent surgery for the removal of a throat tumor; a rumor the actor vehemently denied in his Facebook post.

A representative for Douglas released a statement regarding the actor's comments after the news spread and Kilmer denied the cancer. Douglas said that he was under the impression that Val Kilmer is ill.

Val Kilmer made his first public appearance since he denied the claims of Michael Douglas. According to People, Kilmer was having trouble talking. Kilmer was promoting his play in Citizen Taiwan in Los Angeles. He was allegedly quoted admitting to the crowd that he was still recovering from a swollen tongue.
