Armored Bloodwing Is The Newest Mount For World of Warcraft [TRAILER]

Time to saddle up and ride folks...again. A new flying mount is available for World of Warcraft from the Blizzard store. Enough to make Bruce Wayne proud, but without the Bruce Wayne prices. See, 'cuz Bruce Wayne is...y'know...Batman.

That mount? A "monstrous, flesh-eating bat is the perfect companion for trips that call for death and destruction." Really, it's a lot more adorable than the description lets on. See for yourself below.

Players can grab the nocturnal beast for $25. Once activated, it applies to all present and future World of Warcraft characters on your Battle.net account. Or, if your trying to impress that special night elf high priestess, you can gift the mount to the pointy eared vixen of your choosing, like all other mounts.

If your wallet's a little light, you can throw your hat in the ring for a chance to win a Bloodwing mount over at wowhead.com.

This mount looks to be the first of more content Blizzard will be introducing in order to keep fans playing the MMORPG. As Activision CEO Bobby Kotick revealed during a recent conference call to investors, "we're working to release new content more frequently to keep our players engaged longer and make it easier for lapsed players to come back into the game. We believe in the long-term value of this franchise and will continue to commit substantial resources to World of Warcraft."

The game currently has about 8 million subscribers, down from its high in October of last year at over 10 million. But as Kotick notes, it's still one of the most popular online games to date, despite competition from games likeLeague of Legends. "While we do believe further declines are likely and we expect to have fewer subscribers at year end than we do today, World of Warcraft remains one of the most successful franchises in the history of entertainment," he said.

While a simple mount is hardly the kind of content that will get help snag up lost players, more significant additions are in the works, though no details have been offered as of yet. As Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime has said, "There's still more in the pipeline with our teams continuing to work on Blizzard All-Stars and our unannounced MMO."

A giant bat will certainly help troll and unded priest characters look all the mor vicious. But all the same, I still prefer Mordecai's bloodwing, even after what Handsome Jack did to 'em. What a dick...
