In a report from Mobile & Apps, "Rick and Morty" Season 3 has been promised to year a year and a half after the second season concluded. However, there are hints that the show is going to air at the end of this year.

Writer Erica Rosbe shares that the story for "Rick and Morty" Season 3 is done. The part of the production that takes some time is the animation part. In the same report, Rosbe's fellow writer Sarah Carbiener also shares that some of the show's episodes are done with the animation part. It seems that the delay may be because of quality. The crew needs to work hard to make the animation the best for the show.

According to a report in Jobs & Hire, Rick and Morty Season 3 will have a delayed air date from the original plan. There have been speculations of the animated series to air later this year. However, as the months go by, other speculations are coming out that the show is going to air in 2017.

The co-creator for the series, Dan Harmon expressed that the production is going fast in getting "Rick and Morty" Season 3 done. It is likely that everything about the script is already finished but the team just needs to polish everything neatly so to give out the best.

Meanwhile, a report from CSN indicates that "Rick and Morty" Season 3 will have 14 episodes in total. For these 14 episodes, only nine are done as of this time and one is fully animated. It seems that the show is not going to air this December as originally reported.

For now, there is no confirmation for an air date of "Rick and Morty" Season 3. Fans need wait until it is officially announced.
