Google Earth VR: Newest Google Project Lets You To Travel To Space In The Comfort Of Your Home

Google recently released a virtual reality (VR) version of Google Earth. With their latest project, people can now experience what it is like to travel the most distant parts of the world without leaving the comfort of their home.

Google Earth VR's Lets You Tour The Outer Space

According to the Daily Mail, the program works just like the standard Google Earth or Google Street View except that it is beamed directly into the user's eyes in three dimensions. Mike Podwal, Google Earth's product manager revealed in a recent blog post that the newest version might be the next big thing to help people explore the world.

What makes the project even more interesting is the fact that it allows users to walk around the likes of Rome's oldest Colosseum or better yet, climb the Mt. Everest. The revamped Google Earth also allows users to fly around different destinations.

"With Earth VR, you can fly over a city, stand at the top of the highest peaks, and even soar into space. It comes with cinematic tours and hand-picked destinations that send you to the Amazon River, the Swiss Alps and many more. It comes with virtual tours of some of the world's most popular destinations," Podwal said.

Google Earth VR Now Available On Steam

The Google Earth VR is expected to give a first-person view that is quite impossible to achieve in real life. If you are one of those who wish to jump inside the street views in Google and walk around the streets of Tokyo, the latest Virtual Reality experience from Google Earth might best fit you.

Google Earth VR is now available for free on Steam. The version which works well with HTC Vive gives you a wide access to the entire world. Stay tune for more updates on Google Earth as it arrives across other VR platforms next year.
