The "Smurfs: The Lost Village" is an upcoming 3D computer animated adventure-comedy film directed by Kelly Asbury. It is based primarily on The Smurfs comic book series created by a Belgian comic artist Peyo, and a total reboot movie that is completely unrelated to Sony's film series. The film stars Demi Lavato, Mandy Patinkin, Jack McBrayer, Dani Pudi, Joe Manganiello and Ronin Wison.
According to the official synopsis for the upcoming film, the "Smurfs: The Lost Village" plot will revolve around Smurfette and her brothers trekking through the uncharted Enchanted Forest. They will look for a fabled Smurf village before their nemesis, the evil wizard Gargamel does. Along the way, some of the mysteries in relation to their origins are starting to be revealed.
According to Cinema Blend, the upcoming movie "Smurfs: The Lost Village" will feature an entirely new voice actors. The Platinum selling recording artist Demi Lavato will play as Smurfette, Mandy Patkinkin as Papa Smurf, Jack McBrayer as Hetty Smurf, Danny Pudi as Brainy Surf and Ranin Wilson as Gargamel.
In relation to this, a major factor as to why the voice cast was revamp for "Smurfs: The Lost Village" was because the voice actors for "Smurfs 2" have passed away. Back in 2013, two of its original voice actors Jonathan Winters who voices Papa Smurf and Anton Yelchin who voices Clumsy Smurf has unfortunately passed away.
The upcoming film "Smurfs: The Lost Village" will also provide answers to questions that fans might be asking, such as, do Smurfs come in different colors? Are there mushroom houses organic? Why are there 99 boys with only 1 girl? These questions will be answered when the film hits theaters in April 7, 2017.
It has recently been revealed that on June 14, 2015, Sony Pictures Animation thought of "Get Smurfy" as the title for the upcoming film. However, it was changed to "Smurfs: The Lost Village".
