Samsung Latest News & Update: Group of Offices Raided By Prosecutors; Government Corruption Scandal In Upbeat

With confirmation from the Samsung Group, South Korea's Samsung Group offices were raided by the prosecuters Wednesday, November 23, 2016 as a government corruption scandal grows.

A Samsung Group spokeswoman confirmed that the prosecution officials had visited the group's headquarters. Those prosecutors also raided the country's largest pension fund, National Pension Service or NPS.

2 weeks ago, Samsungs electroinic headquarters was searched by prosecutors after days of allegations in locial media that the Samsung had poured €2.8m euros ($3.1m;£2.5m) into a foundation run by a "shaman adviser", a long time friend of President Park Geun-hye.

It has been said that the millions of euro whcih has been poured to a company co-owned by Ms Choi and her daughter said that it was a deal which benefits the family of Samsung's group owner Lee Kun-hee, BBC News reported

As per reported by The Fortune, Prosecutors in Seoul could not be immediately reached for comment. Park Geun-hye and Choi Soon-sil who has been indicated in an influence-peddling scandal are now under investigation for allegedly improperly pressuring major conglomerates that includes the Samsung Group.

It has been also said that Ms. Choi Soon-sil, a long-term personal friend of president who actually been influencing presidential decisions, is now in detention. President Park received lots of criticism and the entire public has been protesting because of the allegations of selling influence and corruption threaten to bring down the presidency. 

As per Samsung's Seoul was raided earlier this month because of corruption investigation, the Wednesday's report was for a controversial merger issue which was happened last year between Samsung's construction subsidary and an affiliate business, Cheil Industries. UPI's news report said that Park, Choi and Samsung could face bribery charges if all these allegations are true.
